  • Blood Drive

There is a constant need of blood donors in New York City. At the request of Coney Island Hospital, Todd Dobrin organized a community blood drive that yielded over 100 pints of blood. In conjunction with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union # 3, Carpenters Local Union # 926 and Community Board # 13, Catherine Sevos, Todd Dobrin, Sol Kaiser, Assemblyman Bill Colton and the late Marsha Rapaport(pictured right) answered that call. Mr. Sol Kaiser, Todd’s grandfather, received a certificate of merit for his donation of his 200th pint of blood.

”Dear Mr. Dobrin,
We here at the hospital cannot find words of gratitude appropriate enough to match your superb response to our need. Your Brotherhood, joining their colleagues, the Carpenters of Local Union 926, expressed love of neighbor in a very profound way. The life giving gift of blood is a gift without parallel."

  • Coney Island Boardwalk

The Coney Island Boardwalk is “‘…one of New York City’s favorite treasures,’ said Todd Dobrin, the Chairman of “Friends of the Boardwalk.”

Todd Dobrin has initiated Boardwalk surveys with The Friends of the Boardwalk and Abraham Lincoln High School’s Key Club since 1999 and worked with the Parks Department to identify problem areas. Many portions remain in disrepair for years because there is little funding.

  • Graffiti

Join Todd in his efforts to keep our community graffiti free

Graffiti or "Tagging" as it is commonly referred to, is etching, printing, covering or otherwise placing a mark upon public or private property, with intent to damage such property. If left unchecked it will spread like mold and diminish the quality of life in our community!

New York City's Graffiti Removal Program is the vehicle to remove this unwanted vandalism from our community. This is a Free program that is available to businesses and residences that have been vandalized by graffiti.

"The programs that have been most successful are those that combine community action, targeted enforcement and youth involvement."

You can take three simple steps to join Todd in his effort to make our community a better place to live.

(1) Download and print a Graffiti Removal Waiver form at the web site below.

(2) Bring the removal waiver form to any residence or business that has been vandalized by graffiti. Have the owner sign it and send it to:
Community Assistance Unit
Paint Program
100 Gold Street, 2nd Floor
New York, New York 10038
Or fax it to : 212-788-7754

(3) If you see graffiti, report it immediately to the New York City Police Department.
